Development and manufacture of aluminium alloy pipe

Jul 20,2024

Alloy aluminium tube profiles are mainly produced by extrusion, while wire is produced by drawing.

Alloy aluminium tube profiles are mainly produced by extrusion, while wire is produced by drawing. The most commonly used extrusion process has two kinds of forward extrusion and reverse extrusion. Forward extrusion is the most widely used in design and production; reverse extrusion can reduce the extrusion pressure by 30% to 40%, the extrusion speed is relatively high, and the organisation and properties of the products are uniform, but the structure of the equipment, the assembly of the tools, and the production operation are relatively complicated, which limits its use.

Extruded alloy aluminium tubes and profiles, using ingot heating-extrusion-finishing production process; for heat treatment can be strengthened aluminium alloy material, but also quenching an aging treatment. Building profiles adopt the production process of on-line air-cooled quenching and finishing after extrusion. Thin-walled tubes are first extruded to produce billets and then cold-processed production process; for hard alloy small-diameter tubes, the secondary extrusion method is often used to produce small-size extruded billets and then cold-processed production process.
